Malware Reverse Engineering Recap

At the ISSA Chapter Meeting on February 20, 2018, Michael Vien presented a fascinating overview on how to reverse engineer malware. He demonstrated several tools, including Responder Pro, IDA Pro, and Storm. Responder Pro is obtainable from CounterTack; ISSA members can email Michael for a free 60-day demo license. IDA Pro is produced by Hex-Rays and is available in two versions: a free version—older and with fewer features—as well as a commercial version.

EC-Council’s Strike Mobile Security Toolkit, which Michael demonstrated after the meeting, is a Raspberry Pi with a touch screen, keyboard, and carrying case, comes preloaded with a customized Kali operating system designed specifically for penetration testing.
